The Governor’s Office of Planning and Research (OPR) is looking for fall and winter interns. The interns will work with closely with OPR staff on a variety of projects related to land use and the environment. Interns will have a hands-on opportunity to learn more about State government and policy development. The interns will gain skills and experience in policy research, local government outreach, interagency coordination, land use planning, and more.

UPDATE OF 2003 Fire Hazard Planning Technical Advisory 06-25-2014
To assist Cities and Counties in addressing the increasing fire risks in the “wildland-urban interface” in compliance with Senate Bill 1241 (Kehoe, Statutes of 2012), OPR has updated our “Fire Hazard Planning” Technical Advisory. The revised publication includes new sections on the safety element requirements for state responsibility areas and very high fire hazard severity zones (Government Code Sections 65302 and 65302.5). Specifically, during the next revision of the housing element on or after January 1, 2014, the safety element shall be reviewed and updated as necessary to address the risk of fire in state responsibility areas and very high fire hazard severity zones.
