New Publication: “LAFCOs, General Plans, and City Annexations” 02-09-2012The Governor’s Office of Planning and Research (OPR) is pleased to release an update to our 1997 publication: “LAFCOs, General Plans, and City Annexations.” This document provides a primer on Local Agency Formation Commissions (LAFCOs) from a land use planning perspective. The publication addresses the city annexation process, CEQA, and local general plans. The update to our 1997 publication includes new legislation, such as SB 244.
Infill Streamlining (SB 226) 01-25-2012
The Governor’s Office of Planning and Research is pleased to solicit your input on proposed additions to the CEQA Guidelines developed pursuant to SB 226 (Simitian, 2011). The proposal sets forth a streamlined CEQA review process for infill projects and contains performance standards that will determine an infill project’s eligibility for streamlined review. Comments on the proposal are requested by February 24, 2012. Public workshops will be held in Sacramento, Fresno and Los Angeles during the week of February 20, 2012. Directory of California Planning Agencies (2012) 01-23-2012
The Directory of California Planning Agencies is a new publication from OPR that contains contact information for local and regional planning agencies throughout the State. This information was previously available in the California Planners’ Book of Lists (BOL).
The BOL will now be published as two separate publications: the Directory of California Planning Agencies and the Annual Planning Survey Results. Please check back soon for the release of the first Annual Planning Survey Results.
